NOTICE OF ANNUAL TOWN MEETING
TOWN OF WOODSTOCK
May 27, 2010
The Annual Town Meeting of the electors and citizens qualified to vote in town meetings of the Town of Woodstock, Connecticut, will be held on Thursday, May 27, 2010 at 7:00 PM at the Woodstock Town Hall, 415 Route 169 in Woodstock.
The Annual Town Meeting will be held to consider the following actions and to vote on the following resolutions:
1) To elect a Moderator;
2) To approve the proposed budget of the Town of Woodstock for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2011 in the amount of $20,967,425 as has been recommended by the Board of Finance and to appropriate said sum to meet the recommended expenditures;
3) To adopt a Capital Improvement Plan for a five-year period ending 2014-2015 as has been recommended by the Board of Finance; RESOLVED, that the Town of Woodstock’s local capital improvement projects of $14,305,620 and capital improvement plan as defined in Section 7-535 through 7-538, a copy of which plan is on file in the Office of the Board of Selectmen and available for public inspection during normal business hours, is hereby ratified and approved;
4) To authorize the Board of Selectmen to apply for the State and Federal Grants;
5) To rescind the resolution adopted at the January 21, 1986 Special Town Meeting, that he annual budget meeting of the Town shall be held on the last Thursday in May before the Memorial Day holiday and to substitute the following: RESOLVED, that the Annual Town Meeting for consideration of the budget of the Town shall be on the second Tuesday in May;
6) To transact such other business as may properly come before said meeting; and
7) To adjourn.
Please Note: Pursuant to Section 7-7 of the Connecticut General Statues, the Woodstock Board of Selectmen have on their own initiative removed the foregoing Item #2 for submission to the voters of the Town of Woodstock by referendum to be held on June 1, 2010 from 12:00 Noon to 8:00 PM at the Woodstock Town Hall. Voters approving the budget will vote “Yes” and those opposing said budget will vote “No.” Absentee ballots will be available at the office of the Town Clerk.
