Senior Fitness - Qigong Exercise Class: Classes are held Wednesdays from 9:00 - 9:45 am. There is a minimal charge of $2 per class for residents and $3 per class for non-residents. All classes are held in the lower level of the Woodstock Town Hall and are part of the Woodstock Recreation Department's Senior Exercise Program. Come and practice Qi Gong with twenty year T'ai Chi and Qi Gong practitioner Nick Beams. Qi Gong (pronounced "chee gung") translates roughly to "energy skill," and is an ancient Chinese body practice using the body-mind-spirit connection. Qi Gong is designed to supplement and enhance subtle energy in the body to promote health and wellbeing. One common possible benefit of Qi Gong includes releasing the mind and body from stress induced by daily life tensions. Mr. Beams uses an holistic approach in his classes by incorporating Qi Gong from the Yang, Chen, Ip, and Wudang styles for an unsurpassed and comprehensive practice. Qi Gong is practiced around the world today. It can be done sitting or standing, and no demanding physical ability is required. The movements can also be adjusted to suit individual needs. Please come dressed comfortably for freedom of movement. All ages are welcome!

Students, chaperones, and our ski coordinator are transported to Wachusett Mountain in Princeton, MA, by motor coach directly after school.  Students either bring their own equipment or rent at the mountain.  Students also have the opportunity to take lessons before enjoying free time on the mountain.  Students ski/snowboard in groups and/or with chaperones.  Upon return, parents will pick up their children at Woodstock Middle School (approximately 8:45 pm).

Registration begins October 1, 2018.  **Registrations will be in two parts:

  1. Contact and Authorization for Medical Treatment Forms will be available at the Middle School and Academy offices and at the town hall.
  2. Your registration packet will have an online code (WSTR) to register for our program through Wachusetts. This can be found online at This is to register for ski passes, lessons and/or equipment.

BOTH steps must be completed and payment in full made for transportation. Registration packets must be returned to the Woodstock Town Hall so the skier/snowboarder may be issued a number to save a seat on the bus. Hand or mail in registration to Woodstock Recreation, 415 Route 169, Woodstock CT 06281 or leave in an envelope in the drop box located outside town hall.

This program is offered on a first come, first served basis to the first 100 students only.  All other registrations received will be placed on a wait list.  All registrations to Wachusetts HAVE to be done by December 5, 2018 or there is a $20 late charge.
