Town Hall Welcomes New Staff Members

From the Office of the First Selectman: First Selectman Jay Swan would like to update the Town of Woodstock on some recent changes at the town hall. According to Swan, “We are dedicated to expanding the town hall’s resources and are working to find the most qualified and capable personnel to support the needs of our residents.”

First, we would like to acknowledge the departure of Tina Lajoie, Brenda Cotnoir, and Cynthia Brown. They each have contributed specialized services to the community. We wish them the best as they move into new endeavors and retirement.

We would like to welcome Ashely Stephens, Amy Monahan, Kiona Carpenter, and Rachel Ferreira on their new employment with the Town of Woodstock.

Ashley Stephens is the new Land Use Administrator. This includes serving as the Wetlands Agent and Zoning Enforcement Official. The Land Use Department was recently created to better meet the needs of the community. Previous restructuring had not been adequate to keep up with the rapid pace of land and zoning issues.

Amy Monahan is joining us as the new Recording Secretary. Amy is a familiar face to the community serving on the Recreation Commission and Open Space Land Acquisition and Preservation Committee. In addition, she is involved with the Woodstock Grange. We are proud to have her as our new Recording Secretary.

Kiona Carpenter has been hired as the new Executive Assistant to the First Selectman. She is a lifelong resident of the Town of Woodstock. She is joining us from Pomfret School and has served the local community for many years through volunteer work. We are happy to have a fresh perspective in the First Selectman’s Office.

Rachel Ferreira is the new Assistant to the Assessor. Rachel has 5 years of experience working as an Assessor Clerk in addition to 3 years working with Vision Government Solutions doing revaluations. We are excited to have someone who is experienced and exceptionally qualified in this position. To better serve the needs of our residents, this will once again become a full-time position. Rachel will begin working in Woodstock on October 13th.

Human Resource Manager Crystal Adams and Finance Director Karen Fitzpatrick have worked diligently with First Selectman Swan to find and hire qualified and passionate people to support the needs of the town. It is no easy feat to find people who have the experience and necessary qualifications for some of these specific municipal positions. We are fortunate to have found the right applicants for these positions and look forward to working with them to best support the needs of Woodstock.
