Congratulations to Dick Baron on Retirement

Dick Baron will retire as Fire Marshal for the Town of Woodstock on November 30th, 2023. Mr. Baron has served as Fire Marshal for the last twenty-seven years and was the Deputy Fire Marshal for 12 years before that.

First Selectman Jay Swan stated, “We have been fortunate to have Dick Baron serving Woodstock as EMT, Firefighter, Fire Chief, Deputy Fire Marshall and Fire Marshall for almost 40 years. He is yet another unsung hero who has served his fellow residents at all hours, day and night, year in and year out. Citizens don’t realize there are those among us who step up when needed, usually at the worst times. Dick is one of them. The commitment and dedication he has continually shown, to his various responsibilities over the years, is admirable. I have known him as a friend since coming to Woodstock in 1975. He and his family have been friends and neighbors since I returned to Woodstock more than 30 years ago. I sincerely wish him well in the future and thank him for his dedicated service, over the years.”
