Historic Properties Commission

Mission

The Historic Properties Commission (HPC) was created by Town Ordinance in 1991 to preserve and protect historically and culturally significant buildings, archaeological sites, and landscapes in recognition of their landmark status in Woodstock and their significance to regional and state history. The HPC currently oversees three Local Historic Properties (LHP): Quasset School, the Lois Banister House, and Bradford-Marcy Cemetery. HPC’s oversight role consists of reviewing proposed structural or site changes as provided in an Application for a Certificate of Appropriateness to ensure the changes do not compromise those elements of the properties that make them historically significant and worthy of preservation.
