A variance is a request to vary the Zoning Regulations to do something with your property that the Regulations do not allow. An application requesting a variance must demonstrate a unique, ‘Unusual Hardship’ or natural characteristic of the land or condition which makes a reasonable use by the landowner difficult to comply with Zoning Regulations. A variance applies only to that particular property.
