The North Woodstock Library Association (trustees) was formed in 1854. Patrons were charged five cents per borrowed book, and a two cent/day fine for overdue books. Life membership cost $1.00 and regular members paid .50 cents a year. Members did not have the borrowing charge. From 1860-1871, the library was disbanded three times, and the books were either sold or divided among life members.

The building that the North Woodstock Library now occupies was originally a schoolhouse built in 1843. In 1944, the West Woodstock Library donated 50 books to start the North Woodstock Library again. It was housed in the Vestry of the Congregational Church until the the Town gave the building to the library in 1950. The inside remains almost the same. They still have some old school desks, and the outhouse in the back (but they have had indoor plumbing since the 1970's.

The Library has a nice selection of children's books, fiction and non-fiction for adults, romance novels and books on tape.
